Tory Shame on Ukraine

The weak and incompetent Tory government has been shamed by its slow and feeble response to Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. They have been long on meaningless talk and short on effective help. Perhaps its not surprising when you consider how much in Vladimir Putin’s pocket the Tories have been for years. Tory peer and former Energy Minister Greg Barker even represented Russia at an international conference on behalf of the Russian Federation party.
For years, the Tories have been happy to take Russian money to fund their election campaigns and in Britain, Johnson’s government has been attacking the same democratic values he claims should be defended by Ukraine. But not by him it seems.
Since Johnson became Prime Minister the Tories have been given £2m in Russia-linked donations. Lubov Chernukhin, the wife of Putin’s former deputy finance minister Vladimir Chernukhin is still a member of the Tories 14-strong “advisory board” of donors, processing Putin’s donations. Johnson was at a meeting with her at the moment the Russian invasion began. Fourteen of the ministers in Johnsons government have received donations from people and firms linked to Putin’s Russia.
